Driving a Tesla is an experience. One important thing to prepare for is that the controls in the cabin are completely different than other vehicles. The way you turn on the wipers, play music, map your route, set the cruise control, etc. Everything is different. So there is a learning curve. It is really a computer with a car designed around it. I would suggest finding some videos on how to operate the vehicle you plan to rent.

If I wanted the real experience, I would definitely seek out a model with the fastest 0-60 time. The acceleration is nearly dizzying on the faster models. They are fun cars to drive. However, if you depart a large city rental agency and enter city traffic with no preparation, it could be an unnecessarily stressful situation.

I’m not a climate zealot but I do wish more people that get on here and bash EVs would be open minded enough to at least try one before stating their opinions. I applaud you for being willing to try it.
