Safes don't survive house fires too well. I've personally known t
people who had fires and contents of the safe were either melted or ruined with water damage or unrecoverable in basement debris.
A safe would probably survive fire better in a shop or garage but the theft risk increases.
For buying a safe the Harbor Freight option is probably the best buy.
