OK, thanks. it just doesn't seem this was necessary in the past and iPad or iPhone could be accessed for pictures at least like a removable drive. I do remember having to use iTunes to get MP3 music from the PC to the iPhone or iPad where I could do that directly with a USB stick, Android tablet (with permission) or old Sony Walkman. Too many devices to keep straight in my old age I guess.
