In school, we were required to memorize sizeable portions of scripture every year. One year, it would be the Sermon on the Mount. The next year it would be James. First John and sections from the Peter epistles were included in there as well.
The only specific memorization that I've done since then was one winter when I made a point of memorizing Romans 12 and 13.
