We used them for a driveway, ours never really got real hard or compacted together, were too dry, but worked OK. Need to be careful plowing snow till there is a frozen layer of ice and ir you spin on it you can dig a hole in easily, I always kick it smooth and it "heals " pretty good, contractor used a roller which did help some.
