Subject: RE: Hearing Aids

North East Wimmera district of Victoria.

How would you like a blast from the past?

My Dad got a hearing aid when I was maybe 6 or 8 yrs old.

It was the size of a current day Samsung S23 mobile phone, only a bit thicker.

Dad wore it clipped in a waistcoat pocket, and it had a cord to the 'earpiece', which actually was a device 3/4" long, 1/2" wide and 1/2" thick. It was held against the bone behind his ear by a spring headband..

My memory is of Dad - when the hearing aid was first worn, holding his hand to his ear if we clattered cutlery at the meal table. It was a terrible noise he had not heard for some years !

When he turned it off to go to bed  his world went silent again!.
