Subject: RE: High moisture corn for beef

Latimer, Iowa (north central)
We would also topdress feed with sodium bicarbonate (basically baking soda bought buy the pallet) when starting calves on full corn silage, hmc. Not remembering the rate off hand but not alot. That or a little ground hay if cattle were in a barn that the tmr wagon could feed. Rest of pens were set up to come out of silos only so hard to add hay. Would feed a few bales in a ring when they first came in those pens.

I thought it buffered their stomachs a bit from acid when switch from being on grass to being fed corn and silage.
