Subject: Osteoarthritis, anyone here have wrist fusion surgery?

Manitoba
About a year ago i went to doctor to see about pain in my wrists. I was thinking maybe carpal tunnel or something along that line but i had no idea. Turned out it was osteoarthritis and doctor described it to me as that I have the wrists of an 80 year old, an 80 year old in bad shape. Both wrists pretty much the same state. Specialist is telling me to have them fused as theres nothing left regarding the space in the joint and its just bone on bone. On the list to see the surgeon but havnt met with him yet. Anyone here deal with similar situation and have any advice.
I know i havnt been overly kind to my body overworking over the years but this really has me uncertain as to how to proceed. I am 54 and if I cant work our farm is finished, at least the business model that i have implemented is not sustainable.
Small farm running and maintaining older equipment myself is what makes it feasible.
Imagining trying to continue without being able to move my wrists seems likely impossible.
Thought I would ask here to see if anyone has gone through this and had any advice
Thanks
Martin
