North Central Kansas | We bred 85 2 year olds last spring. We ai’d 81 of them followed with cleanup bulls on everything. We had 100% bred with 70% bred AI. We fed them a balanced ration with an omega balancer from Suthers feed. https://sutherfeeds.com/wp-content/uploads/2022/06/SuthersSolutionsO... It helps balance the omega fatty acids. We breed May 1st as the grass is getting started growing good.
They need to be in good body condition before they calve. Once she calves it is too late. Calving ease and bw is determined by genetics. Both maternal and paternal. That doesn’t mean you want them butterball fat but bc 5 is a good place to have them. Thin undernourished heifers have weak calves. | |
