Eastern Shore of MD | Drainage water management is becoming a item here. Water is managed in fields to reduce nitrate loss- not sure how p & k loss is affected yet. IIRC modeling shows up to a 40% nitrate loss reduction when using it. Site has to have right slope to make it work. I believe a gate valve is needed every 1-1.5’ of elevation change so can not have a lot of slope to make it work.
Water is managed in field with the zones throughout the year. We did a couple smaller sites a few weeks ago. One has manual valves in it, the other is automated. | |
