Eastern Washington State
I like to say my whole farm is a big trial, it just depends on your perspective.

I do quite a few strip trials each year. My ground is highly variable so splitting a field wouldn't give useful results, but doing several strips across the field is usually a reliable way to make comparisons. How many acres goes into these strips depends and the size of the equipment. I like to do at least three strips per application variable, with the sprayer those are going to be 100' wide. I like them to be at least 600' long, but will often make them the full length of the field. If its something I'm testing with the drill they are 40' wide.

For those of you interesting in on farms trials here is a podcast I like to listen to: https://rss.com/podcasts/pnwfarmersnetwork/
I'm in Washington State and the podcast is geared towards my area and what we grow, but it may be interesting to growers everywhere.
