What % and/or how many acres do you set aside for trials or test on your farm per year?

Central ND
We use 5 acres for a seed company to have a plot on. And grow more than one variety of seed. Sunflowers we have grown anywhere from 2-3 different brands of seed and up to 5 different varieties at a time, all in about 500-600 acres.

Can't say we've ever really hit any good home runs per se, but it elimates a lot of varieties or gets us a couple good varieties to keep in the rotation.

Used to grow a few different spring wheat varieties, last year we only grew 1. Probably add a second again this year for comparison.
