WCIN | Last heifer to calve over the weekend was a full breech, had to get the vet to get the calf out he said not her fault no reason she couldn’t have it if it was facing the right way, just bad luck.
Contemplating the same thing, on one hand she could be fattened up and butchered no problem, she’s just an extra year fattening up.
On the other hand I picked her to be a cow, got time and money into her for that reason and that reason only.
I’m a single heard, one pasture guy, she fits into a group that if I replace her I’m 3-4 years before I cycle to a new bull. I have half the money in a 3-4 year old bull compared to a new one today so I’m not doing that for the loss of one heifer.
I can end this right now and take the single or I can let her ride and possibly hit a triple or more. Worst case scenario I lose again and we are eating a lot of hamburgers. We are gambling either way. | |
