Agree with what everyone else said - hard to say if it should work or not depending on configuration and age. On the engine hours, you're correct - when we can't detect them it's using hours the modem is on. You can edit the starting hours in Equipment Manager on Operations Center to set the starting point correct and then it should fairly accurately increment up from there.
