S Illinois | Elevators will always be beholden to the regional basis bids until they have their commitments met. Otherwise they get no grain sold to them and that’s a terrible place to be as an elevator. And an elevator very very seldom has its commitments met far enough out to not be competitive. So they can’t just take in DP bushels and then drop basis off the table as every month they need to be in the market to buy more grain. If DP contracts were a license to pay less basis then free DP would be on the table constantly. | |
