Sorry to learn of your troubles with some items. Have installed skylights in various parts of the country even once in a rain forest without leaking.
Try replacing your recessed lighting with closed cans allowing direct contact with insulation=happy. Look for "Commercial Electric C1 #384-839", contractors 6-pack with push-pull connectors
