West Central Wisconsin | Perhaps covering the beds with black plastic for awhile killing the weeds and then removing in order to plant. You could then use a mulch such as straw or grass clippings or keep the plastic in place. A friend of ours covered an area of her lawn with black plastic, punched a hole in it and planted tomatoes. No weeds and the warmth from the plastic made the plants take off but if I recall the stalks were spindley. Joe. | |
