Ravenna Ohio
Haleiwa,
I disagree with stay away. I lived on my site And inspected daily. Subcontractors can get lazy when paid by the job. Little things like skipped nailing, supporting sheeting seams, let alone the big ones like putting the basement wall on the wrong side of the string. Ten years later I still walk around the corner and like seeing straight walls and vinyl siding.
The things I would change are max r values, Geo heat if I lost the gas well and MORE closet space.
I kick myself daily for not better insulating and heating the basement floor. Tour as many homes as you can, to see all of these great ideas offered.
We built so one job could carry the payment load. A sound decision for us as college expenses have arrived. I wish we had dumped the garage and improved the things mentioned. Garages can be added on later at much less expense than changing walls, doors, and floors. Don
