Yes, what you are talking about would work just fine.

We do not flail chop or mow the stalks, just rake with a V-rake and bale. 3 - 5 bales per acre is typical depending how tall the corn was, how much leaf matter was still on the corn when you combined, and how cleanly the field was raked.

I would think you might get 1/3 that much and yours would be higher quality (more husks and leaves/less stalks)

I'm thinking about running some raked stalks through a forage chopper with a hay head and putting them in a silage bag. Maybe inject some $550 per ton anhydrous as an experiment.
