SW MN and Gold Canyon AZ
Relative maturity is what its called. Soybeans are light sensitive. 5 days planting delay makes 1 day maturity difference. Most base maturity on when the pods are ripe not the leaves or stems.
Maturity can change from year to year on varieties. This year some 1.9 s are later than 2.0s . Last year some were the other way around. Its all a mute point as what yields the best is still what pays the bills. Staying within your range of maturities is best. Going outside those maturities is risky wether early or late.
This year it seems the ones that hung on a little longer and stayed green are the better yielders. Plant health carried them through. Early planted, early beans are not doing very well. They did not take advantage of the august rains as well.
