Subject: grazing cows

Hay,

I've heard all the extension folks brag about grazing for $0.15/day, but I just don't believe it. When you figure in land costs, fencing costs, watering costs, fertilizer, pasture maintenance and seeding expenses, I just can't believe it. Yes, if you don't figure land costs, it works, but if you're grazing for $0.15/day, your supplementing with about $0.40 -$0.50 more also. Just my take, never seen a good explanation that didn't include some sub-market lease or forgetting to add in fertilizer costs or seeding expenses.

Eddie
