A high percentage of studies show no difference or even yield decreases for P & K placed 6 inches deep (or more) with strip-till/zone-till as compared to shallow placement in a planter side-band. A comprehensive review of this topic (and nutrient stratification causes and effects) by soil scientists Ray Weil, John Grove, and Ray Ward appeared in the September Leading Edge (see www.notill.org)
