I have not done side-by-sides. No matter whether you go DAP or MAP, a small amount of N is going to come with the deal. Similar to Ed's recipe, mine is just a little less P + K, 200lb DAP, 150lb Potash according to my guess. I had to base mine on previous soil test, yields since then, and expected yield. I was late getting the soil samples pulled, so if I need to still tweak according to what they say when they come back, I will still be able to down the road.

Soybean stubble alone will not carry the crop through to harvest with any decent yield. Some N is still required in spring to produce bushels.

Anyone have any input on N credit values of soybeans that nodulated well early on, but yielded low because of heat and dryness late in the season. Do they still provide the same amount of N or is it reduced?
