| We have some hay ground that we were planning on moldboard plowing this fall to return to a corn rotation. The ground is fairly compacted, can we rip it with a DMI 2500 before plowing or will the plowing negate the benefit of ripping. we usually rip in the fall and let sit so the freeze thaw cycle of winter assists with the compaction breaking. We don't normally rip sod going to corn but usually rip after first year corn, but wondered about trying to rip the sod.
And if you no-tillers are going to give me the just no-till it speech, save your breath, it does not work here for corn. | |
