Ripping then plowing is not likely a very successful plan. If you are in really hard ground plowing is not likely going to be the best plan. I have seen sod given a good dose of roundup and then chisel plowed and it worked down quite well. That would be my plan if it was really hard. If you can't keep the plow in 6 inches you will just have a mess to work down anyhow and you might as well have it more level as from a chisel plow. I suggest 2 liters of roundup.


We do burn it down with Roundup prior to plowing. Chiseling sod has never worked well for me. In my experience if its to hard for the plow to stay in, the chisel will just bounce across the top as well.
