Subject: Refinery explosion in Big Spring, TX.....updated 12:30 pm

West Texas

Son just called me from classes at Howard College in Big Spring, Texas. A refinery just blew up thats located just on the north east edge of Big Spring. Said IH 20 is shut down, college is being evacuated as is an elementary school close by.

Neil, are you getting KWES 9? I'm not picking it up this morning.

It is a 70.000 barrels a day refinery.

A lot of our fuel came from there. I can see our prices going up!

Update, only 2 people reported injured so far. Many were off for Presidents Day. They employ 170 people. 4 Injured as of noon. All employees are accounted for.

All schools have been closed in Big Spring now.

News reports the fire "somewhat" under control.

Son just got home a little while ago. Said there were dozens of wrecks of people looking at the fire and not where they are going. The college campus is only about 3-4 miles from the refinery.
