Apparently you forget who runs the GPS system to begin with?

If you are really concerned about redundancy and "getting away from military control" the only way you can do that is with the Russians.    Does Deere use Glonass?

Hahaha, cute.  I've got a better idea.  All of the paranoids can fill a few shelves of their fully-stocked fallout shelter with Trekker Trax and go foam-only!  :)  Heil the Foam!  Foam the Power!Smile

That's just a joke though.  No disrespect to Deere-o-philes.  I'm sure they've got a good reason for having an alternative (cynics will think market-share), but offhand I can't think of one besides reassuring some of their clients.  I can't picture the gov't disabling WAAS and leaving the base signal accurate to acceptable enough levels to guide a missile within 10 feet or whatever of its target.
