Subject: disc opener's on planter

south east SD
Have a 1760 JD planter with around 7000 acre's on it and the disc opener's are down to 14 1/4 on the disc. When is the best time to replace them. Deere says around 14 inch's or so? So I am darn close to doing it now. Could put in new "seed tubes" and check other things over at the same time. What scraper should a guy use, the "wheel type" or the "blade" style? What are your thoughts? I don't do the no-till thing as it works better to till the ground. Been cold here in SD 22 below this morning. Have a heated shop so I can work on it in comfort.
