NW VA | I agree that the issue is high horsepower at low rpm. One fellow we chop silage for blows silage with a 200 horsepower White and 540 blower, and in the fall of 06, several loads into the job and the PTO went out on the tractor.
There are applications where it would be nice to have the option though, such as pulling a 540 tanker or litter spreader where most of the power goes to the ground, but these should just be 1000 rpm to begin with.
