Subject: RE: Coon Stopper for Sweet Corn Patch

Embarrass WI
There is a guy near here who fences his sweet corn. He uses milk jugs 2/3 full of water for "posts" and runs the plastic rope style fence wire through the handle openings. One wire only, I suppose it is 6-8" high. He has been doing it this way for several years, so it must work.

I am trying it this year, only I didn't have enough empty jugs around so I cut small triangular "fence posts" out of an empty plastic chemical barrel. My sweet corn patch is 1/8 mile away from the buildings, so I had to buy a battery operated fencer. Just hooked it up yesterday, no coon damage this morning, so it worked! Of course the corn is just beginning to silk, so the coons won't be interested for a while yet anyhow-hoping to train them ahead of time.
