I don't know if I'd say people don't respect how much damage chemical drift can do but they don't care unless the damage was done to their crop. If we have to spray when it's a little windy we always try to do it in a field that's surrounded by our crop's so if there is any damage it won't be to a neighbor's crop but some people are just the opposite. Custom applicator's are probably worse than most farmers, three years ago one of them around here was spraying corn in a 30+ mph wind and even after a neighbor complained to them they wouldn't stop.

My thought on drift damage is that if it's windy enough that drift is an issue you probably aren't getting the product where it needs to be anyway so what's the point in being out there.
