The carry in the market works against you if you are doing it on paper. Instead of being long 5.76 Nov 2006 you are long 6.32 Nov 2007 or long 6.63 Nov 2008. In a stagnant or falling market when the front month goes off the board the next month falls to that level. This strategy works if you can buy a distant month at the same price as the front month..
