NE SD | Are you dry Duane? Down here some guys swathed this year because they had trouble getting the wheat to mature evenly. There were spots that were very ripe and a lot of areas that were still green............typical drought mess. On the other hand, we swathed this year because we wanted to combine the wheat while the straw was still somewhat green so it would make better feed. When you wait until it's time to straight cut wheat the straw is so rotten it just explodes going through the combine. That didn't work this year however.......a couple .1" showers pushed it back to the point where guys were straight cutting all around us while we were picking up swaths. | |
