| I think one way hail can help is if you get a light hail storm around flowering, b/c the stress on the plant causes it to set more blooms than normal, b/c its trying to account for the damage, and you get the added sunlight penetration into the canopy. The more sunlight you have, the less aborted blooms you have. The outcome of this still depends on how much rain you get afterwards though, b/c they need water to make use of these extra, unaborted blooms. | |
