No data plan. You are not even on the net when you use it. If you have googl earth to download and cache maps, that is all you need. No phone involved. No need to have a connection while flying. WI FI when not flying is it.
If you use an Android tablet, you can remove the card from the bird, insert into the tablet and review your work.
