Unfortunately - you probably don't have the equipment to do much video editing. I've been there.
It takes fast processors and a very good video card - or - you'll be crashing your editing software a lot.
A 10 year old computer is ancient with regard to video editing.
I ended up having a custom built computer made for me with solid state processors and the latest video card. Cost me about $3,000 -
No for everybody - but the damn thing is LIGHTNING FAST and can handle anything I throw at it.
You probably don't need a "custom built". You can probably solve your specific problems for a little more than half that.
