"Battery Drain" at altitude - is more a function of winds aloft.
At what altitude do you want to film your project? Under the same wind conditions, ferrying at a higher altitude (than your work) will cost you more battery.
If windy, work your project upwind so your craft comes home downwind (faster). Net, net it won't save energy - but it won't put you up against the wall if you procrastinate on hitting the RTH button.
