Have there been any collisions between manned and unmanned aircraft yet? If I were I would be willing to bet everyone inside the manned aircraft ended up being just fine and that the damage to the manned aircraft was very low in cost. The probability of a Phantom taking any manned aircraft down even if they collide is very close to 0 in my opinion. The probability of someone flying a drone even if they're trying to hit a plane is also very close to 0. I think everyone makes way too big of a deal out of all of this stuff. Yes, it's dumb to increase risk more than you need to, but come on, no one is going to die from a Phantom III even if it is in Class B airspace. To be clear, I am not a proponent of anyone flying a drone anywhere near any other aircraft. But when someone is stupid, I don't think there is any cause for the general public to say the sky is falling and all drones must be banned. |
