Chebanse, IL.....

Dave

I can't imagine our little drone quads would do anything at all to the windshield of larger planes. Maybe something small like a Cessna 150 or a homebuilt that use thin plexiglass. I saw one of our local based Cessna 150 land years ago with a pheasant that came thru the windshield & ended up inside the plane...though not in good condition. Plane landed & pilot was covered w/blood....the pheasants.

Transport type airplanes have much thicker windshields. They're certified to take hail strikes @ cruise speeds (500 mph) & not break. If you've ever flown in heavy or moderate hail, you know what it's like just before the world ends some day. Quite an experience.

Again, this drone @ LAX was NOT in the airport airspace. He was quite a few miles away from the airport. But....why at 5000'? Not sure of terrain height out where he was, but the drone was still quite a ways above ground. Again, we don't know what kind of drone. Military?

Maybe "Lawnchair Larry" has been resurrected & still "flying" in the LAX area? Anyone remember him? What an adventure that must've been for a truck driver! Darn weather balloons.
