Dwight IL | ExcObs1 said it well. Its your own comfort level for what you call a commercial flight (furthering your business). This is just my 0.02 but here is how I look at it.
I use the drone to help scout my fields. Theres no doubt that doing so saves me time, a ton of time. It points me to the area of the field where I NEED to go ground truth and see what is going on. Do I make business decisions based off of what I see with my drone. NO. Does it point me to where I need to physically walk into my crops to make those decisions, YES. So to me, the drone is a tool that helps me scout, but really doesnt "further my business" because im still making those final decisions based off of what I see on the ground, not from the air.
Its a grey area that is up for argument.
As for registering, you actually register yourself as a drone owner, not the drone itself. and its easy as pie to do. | |
