Subject: A small advantage we have here.

Little River, TX
Out Texas blacklands are a tight clay with a CEC value that makes most soils people's head swim.
Here we are not worried about nitrogen in ammonium form leaching below the root zone, seeing the ammonium becomes tied up in our clay much as potash and lime does. True our high pH along with hot and dry summers negate any of this advantage.
To add spice to the equation, half of our applied nitrogen will be available the year it is applied. The remainder becomes part of our residual. Than up to half of our residual is available to the crop in any given year.
Interesting to work with but does provide a little stress.
