A lot of it depends on how you stack the bales and how heavy the bales are. Most go by linear foot and width of the stack. I can tarp 3 wide stacks cheaper than 2 wide. 3 wide, 4-5-4 of 4x4's or 6-7-6 of 3x4's I think is somewhere in the $5.15 per linear foot. I figure I'm covering all hay at an average of $2/ton +/-. I looked into tarping myself and for the money its not worth the hassle, especially when a wind storm comes through. Keeping tarps for more than a couple years never seems to pay anyway.
