Subject: There are no direct payment for the hay grower.

Little River, TX
That and they tell us Hay is the nations third largest income producing crop.

Not to be picky but you do come over as being overly strident on the subject of subsidies. Every government subsidizes what they consider to be important. In the 1930's full production of corn was determined to be important by the Roosevelt Administration. Result is this country produces a lot of subsidized row crops.

The government could care less if any one farmer or group of farmers go belly up. What they want is a steady supply of commodities. They are getting a steady supply of commodities.

Some countries want scenic vistas and that is subsidized. Go to Europe and spend you hard earned money into their tourist industry and they will continue to subsidize picturesque little farms.
