Subject: Reasons we have bins,

We have enough storage for all of our corn which is about 70% of what we need for feeding hogs. We grind all of our feed on farm so it only makes sense to store the corn on farm.

1.Feed for livestock.
2.Cost much less to store on farm.
3.Grain quality is better, I have never taken corn to town that looked as bad as most of it does coming out of town. (Fines, mold, dust, low tw, etc)
4.Drying costs are less.
5.We never have to wait in line at the bin, ever. Last fall the wait in town was up to 2 hrs to dump, thats too dang long to sit in line.

Really would like to build enough storage to buy corn in the fall for feed needs and store all of the beans also.

Storing beans makes sense for us because we can haul beans to the crusher and meal home. Saves most of the trucking cost which is equal to the basis difference between the elevator and the processor.
