Thumb of Michigan
We have zero storage. We about 120K of HOLDING capacity. As mentioned by others, we like our hours that we're open, and on corn we pick up TW and ( we think) some shrink over commercial. Outside of that, I feel like I've failed at marketing if I don't have everything swept out by March. Here, anyway, the lions share of basis gains and carry are there for us before March most years. Some years not, but all in all I like reowning paper rather than owning the grain come spring if thats appropriate. I like the bins when I need them, but it doesn't bother me one bit to deliver out of the field and leave the bins empty if the price is right.
