Chesley, Ontario | The big thing to watch out for in the Harvestore is being able to move some air through. Corn should be within 10-20 degrees of the outside temperature, or there will be moisture migration in the pile and condensation, leading to spoilage. As the weather cools, warm air moves up the centre of the pile, picking up moisture from the grain, and then down along the cool walls, leaving condensation at the outside of the bin. As the weather warms up again, the pattern reverses, so the condensation is in the centre. The taller the cylinder, the more pronounce the problem will be. An ag engineer should be able to tell you how much air movement you need, and how big a fan you need to get it!
