I remember reading a study done years ago in England comparing different methods of seeding wheat and one of their findings was that broadcasting and harrowing yielded the same a using a drill.
I think I would add a few more pounds of seed per acre for the birds. Combines often do a very good job of seeding wheat even without a disc or harrow.
