Timing for fungicides would be at tassel but preferably before silking. A week earlier or later and save your money. The best types of fungicides would be the strobiliums (sp), Headline, Stratego, or Quadris. You need something with a protective mode of action with residual activity. One thing to consider with these is you pick up protection from Gray Leaf Spot, rusts, and other leaf diseases too. Cost of 6oz of Healine would be around $12-14 for the chemical plus surfactants. I think it probably pays in the racehorse types of hybrids but not so sure in hybrids that already a good disease package. The higher the disease pressure the more chance for a bigger payoff. Guess what type year you are going to have and you have it made.
