I wasn't aware of any update on the 7000 series. Our 7810 was still too new at that time for there to probably even be an update. Yes, the 4255 has had the updated seals installed...........not sure if they're better or not. I still think that the ZF when taken care of is as good of an axle or better as any other axle made. My fingers are crossed on that though too.......if it ever does go before the tractor gets overhauled it might just be a better option to send the tractor to salvage.
