Thanks for that discussion. There really aren't that many of the stackers in this area. I don't recall seeing one working in the field before. Seeing the machines in the literature made me wonder where they were actually used.

In this area, we used to use mostly small square bales and forage harvesters to bring in the hay and straw. Well, there are also the old horse drawn stookers. Someday, I hope to grab a few pictures of that! Round bales came into the area, but not as strong as some. Many of the farm families have lots of strong (captive?) help, and storage is an issue for many. Round bales don't stack too easily in the barn lofts that are common here.
